No matter where you are living, The Netherlands are a perfect and beautiful location to pass your holidays. Contrary to all prejudices about The Netherlands like tulips, coffee shops, cheese and clogs this country has much more to offer. What about for example the Van Gogh Museum, the Keukenhof, Madurodam, the Anne Frank house and many other tourist attractions and sights. Besides the famous tourist attractions one could also choose renting an accommodation in the stunning nature The Netherlands have to offer. The PSD to Wordpress project which we have executed for the travel business in this case could be your perfect guide to find a suitable accommodation amidst the beautiful Dutch landscape.
User-friendliness rules
Before kicking off the PSD to Wordpress conversion, we discussed the whole project with the client to be informed about the range of functionalities. During this conversation it became clear the main priority was to focus on the user-friendliness and on the fact visitors should be able to easily find accommodations which suit their personal preferences. A search functionality was a real requirement because many visitors know in advance which region they would like to visit and how many persons would require an accommodation. To suit this requirement we opted for a clear and visible search functionality at the homepage, fine-tuned with a filter option to reassure the loaded results match the preferences of the visitor. When a visitor would deep dive into one of the accommodations a photo gallery, an accommodation description, a map and a possibility to write reviews needed to be available. Moreover each accommodation needed to be accompanied by relevant activities in the accommodation surroundings showing the visitor in advance what type of activities could be done in the surrounding area.
Adding new accommodations
Besides a high user-friendliness for the website visitors, we were also requested by the client to ease the adding of new accommodations and activities by means of the admin panel. To realize this latter request we opted for a PSD to Wordpress conversion because Wordpress allows our developers to make use of post types. Post types on their turn can be used to realize the client’s desires and to ensure adding accommodations, activities, separate pages and various other tasks and items can be easily done without technical knowledge. Upon coming to an agreement, we kicked off the project and we were delivered a neat PSD file with nice layer comps. Receiving a neat PSD file always eases our PSD to Wordpress conversion job because we don’t have to lose time looking for possible issues and the actual conversion process goes a lot faster.
From PSD to HTML to Wordpress
Upon converting all pages to HTML and CSS whereby we paid attention to the proper display in all major browsers, we were ready to start building the Wordpress theme. It only took a few days and pretty soon we had a strong basis and adding new accommodations was fairly easy. Time for the trickiest part of the project, the extended search functionality. It took the dedicated developer a few days to develop this functionality but the result surpassed all expectations and the search functionality does an excellent job excluding the non-relevant accommodations based on the personal preferences of the visitor. All in all this was a perfect PSD to Wordpress project. Not only did we deliver the website 5 days ahead of the due date, but we also managed to deliver a beautiful website which excelled in user-friendliness. Both the frontend and the backend are easy-to-use as a result of which everyone was extremely happy about the final result.
